SOLAR cells and panels.

How do solar panels work.

Explanations and definitions.

  1. Solar cells plate products shall be defined as a solar cells photovoltaic device in a glass substrate protected with a roller coated film medium (SP Series).
  2. Solar cells power modules shall be defined as a solar cells photovoltaic device on a glass substrate protected with a glass to glass, edge seal and frame encapsulating system (SM Series). Solar power modules are additionally framed with aluminum frame over the polymer (SMAl Series).
  3. The short circuit current, lsc is defined as the current when there is no voltage across the load at STC.
  4. The open circuit voltage, Voc is defined as the voltage when no current is being drawn at STC.
The specified voltage, Vspec is the voltage at which the circuit is designed to draw current from the PV device.
  5. The peak wattage is defined as the product of current and voltage at the peak power point; theat is, Wpeak=lpeak x Vpeak at STC.
  6. The Standard Test Conditions (STC) shall be defined as Insolation = 1000W/m2, module temperature =25 degrees Centigrade, Air mass = 1.5.
  7. The NOMT (Nominal Operating Module Temperature) is 45 degrees C under test conditions with an ambient temperature of 25 degrees C. The relative temperature coefficient for a typical device are voltage (Voc):-0,33% Current(isc):+0,09%; Power: -0,23%
